Ugh, Summer. Hot long sweaty days followed by late night Netflix binges, booze infused laughter and sleeping so close to a fan it makes my wife jealous. No sick days, just hungover days. But summer to me means one thing- time for fantasy football research.
If your like me, then your counting down the days that lead to Thursday, September 5th. AKA first day of the NFL.
Agh, Fall. Fantasy, followed by fantasy infused with fantasy. Sleeping so close to fantasy that it makes my wife despise me.
Now there’s two people in this world, those who do and those who do plus fantasy football. Because It’s not like we can quit our life and focus solely on fantasy.
But every extra second I get, every bathroom break, every drab cartoon my toddler watches, or god awful reality show my wife’s into, every long stop light or traffic, I’m on my phone doing fantasy research.
Why? Because fantasy football is more than a hobby, it’s a way of life.
It’s what I wake up too and how I get to sleep at night. It’s more than a game. It’s data analyzing, negotiating, strategizing, deal making, mixed in with a little ball breaking, arguing, competivenis fun.
But let’s stop all this Matthew Barry crap and get to the real reason your here. Your looking for advice on blogging. J/K, you are here for a little more knowledge on, yup, you guessed it- fantasy fuckin’ football.
Let’s dive in, here are my thoughts on the top 20 players and who I would draft at each pick.
#1- Ezekiel Elliot
#2- Christian McCaffrey
#3- Saquan Barkley
#4- Alvin Kamara
#5- David Johnson
#6- James Conner
#7- Le’veon Bell
#8- Davante Adams
#9- Michael Thomas
#10- Todd Gurley
Now a couple of things. First off, if Melvin Gordon gets paid and is there for week 1 (which I don’t think will happen), then I’d feel comfortable taking him at #5. Same goes for Todd Gurley, if he’s completly healthy then obviously he moves up too. Also, as you probably noticed, my top 10 is very running back heavy. With only 2 non RB’s, my top 10 list will differ than most out there. Why? Because that’s how drafts go. Smart ones at least. All of those running backs are bell cows that also get receptions. Fantasy gold! Why waste a pick on a TE or a QB or even a WR? There’s plenty of fantasy gold at that position later in the draft.
